I recently received an email from Hugo asking me for some advice on using jQuery with Joomla.
He writes:
where does the jquery library go and how do you reference it in joomla? i wanted to put the asmSelect form into joomla, its fantastic, but not sure how easily it travels.

What the hell is wrong with people? I've been seeing twitter-chatter all day long about a new jQuery plugin called 'IE6 Crash'. It is described in the jQuery Plugin repository as:
A jQuery plugin for crashing IE6. That'll teach those motherf!%@*#s to upgrade their s#*t.

As I've mentioned previously, I am absolutely in love with jQuery, and have been using and abusing the hell out of it in my day-job, and have even been spending my leisure time reading everything I can get into my beady little eyes on the subject of jQuery. It, combined with continually advancing versions of HTML, XHTML, and CSS, is helping to make the web a better place for both developers and designers. I've all but discontinued using Flash. I'm still using it as a media player and for occasional other necessary applications, but with HTML-5's implementation of the <audio> and <video> tags, I can see myself using it less and less over time.

Ok, so while I'm here in this new blog mode (this reminds me of the famed honeymoon period of many an ill-fated marriage), I just want to take a minute to talk about the most exciting thing to me in the world of web development: jQuery. I only recently discovered jQuery (yes, I know I'm behind the times), and am continually in awe over how wonderful it is.
