A Welcome Message:

Leland, 1980I have always had a passion for all things creative: music, art, movies, fiction... I loved them all from a very young age.

I began designing as a teenager, mostly because my bands needed artwork for their posters, albums, and pipedreams. Pretty soon, my friends were asking me for artwork for their own bands. Then, when my employers, my friends' employers, and other friends-of-friends were looking for inexpensive design for logos and ads, they all began to turn to me for help.

Here we are, some 20-years later, I now create designs for companies in a wide variety of industries.

Eventually, designing the look of a website wasn't enough. I began to study Web Development out of necessity, wanting more out of my own websites than the out-of-the-box templates would allow. I'd grown up with computers in my home from an early age, and had studied Basic computer language in elementary school in the early 80s. Pretty soon, I had begun to learn some fairly advanced coding techniques as I would hack and adapt code to my own needs.

I now can not only customize existing code in a number of scripting languages, but can also write new scripts from scratch.

I began studying music, like most children, in the elementary school orchestra. By the 7th grade, I -- like the indecisive college student who can't choose a major -- had played the violin, clarinet, and trombone, trading each for the next until my mother taught me to read a guitar chord chart at age 13. Once I began to teach myself to play the guitar, I dropped out of the school band and stopped my pursuit of orchestral instruments, something I regret to this day.

I now play most instruments that have strings or keys (like guitar, mandolin, piano, synthesizers, etc.)

I've always had a penchant for words, and am sometimes referred to by friends as a grammar-nazi. I enjoy word-play, and am generally verbose and loquacious. So, whether writing copy for a client or a work of fiction for myself, I find surprising joy in finding clarity and beauty through language.

Most of the information here is geared toward clients of Design and Development services. Keep in mind, however, that I do provide services in any of my areas of expertise, such as musical composition, media production, sound engineering, and copywriting.

Anyway, you know why you're here. Have a look around, and enjoy the portfolio. Once you decide whether my abilities and aesthetic styles match your needs, please contact me to begin discussing your project.

Cheers,
